Master of European Studies
Ten Years of Excellence (1998-2008)

Since 1998 ZEI has been offering a “Master of European Studies”, one of the most innovative and successful postgraduate programs of its kind. At the conclusion of its tenth class, ZEI published a brochure to inform about structure and development of the first decade of this postgraduate program which offers highly successful career perspectives.

European Integration and South Eastern Europe

With the end of the Yugoslavian Wars ZEI actively supported the academic reconstruction of the region in the context of the EU Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe. The “Task Force South Eastern Europe” was established at ZEI between 2001 and 2004. Among its activities was the “SOE Monitor” aimed at making politics, academic, business and media better acquainted with developments in the region. At the same time, the “SOE Monitor” informed about the activities of ZEI’s Task Force.

In the context of its “Task Force South Eastern Europe” ZEI contributed between 2001 and 2004 to the development of appropriate teaching material for European Studies in South Eastern Europe and supported the establishment of the “Bulgarian-Romanian Interuniversity Europe Center” (BRIE) in Rousse (Bulgaria). As part of this work, the publications of the ZEI Series “European Integration and South Eastern Europe” (SEE Paper) and the “HERTIE Lectures” (BRIE Paper), which ZEI coordinated, received broad reputation across South Eastern Europe.

ZEI-Report

During the first phase of its work, the “ZEI-Report” gave a regular overview of the working priorities at the Center for European Integration Studies. Between 1998 and 2004, the “ZEI-Report” helped to project the Center for European Integration Studies as an innovative and multidimensional research institute among the broader European public interested in matters of European integration and their academic reflection.
