With the Master of European Regulation of Network Industries (MERNI), the Center for European Integration Studies (ZEI) at the University of Bonn offers an interdisciplinary postgraduate degree program devoted to the education of regulatory experts for network industries. The Master of European Regulation of Network Industries (MERNI) focuses on how European economic integration and concomitant regulatory and legal developments shape the functioning of network industry markets and the strategic options available to legislators as well as business. Within this framework, a unique curriculum has been developed that integrates building blocks from the fields of law, economics and technology studies to endow participants with the proper frame of reference to succeed in regulatory analysis and decision making. Owing to close interaction with leading industry partners and an internationally outstanding faculty of regulatory academics and practitioners, the program achieves a high degree of sensitivity to actual regulatory practice that effectively prepares participants for a career in legal or business counselling, regulatory management or regulatory analysis. The program covers the network industries of telecommunications, energy, water, postal services and transportation.
