| What courses does MERNI offer? |
The MERNI study phase is divided into three stages: During the first two months of the program (corresponding to 20% of the total course workload) Basic Modules allow participants to acquire the educational basics that are necessary to tackle the sector-specific topics dealt with during the second stage by sectoral Specialised Modules. In the third and final stage, participants produce a Master's thesis on a regulatory problem, under the guidance of one of the academic members of staff.

Does MERNI allow for specialisations within the program?

| Yes. Specialisation is achieved by way of the two specialisation examinations as well as through the Master's thesis to be submitted at the end of the program. |
Are MERNI graduates eligible for the Ph.D. studies?

| Outstanding MERNI graduates are eligible to apply for a Ph.D. with the program's Academic Directors in the field of law -providing that they hold a prior degree in law comperable to the German First State Exam -, or other faculty members of their choice. |
Is it possible to be merited for courses taken at third institutions toward the degree awarded by MERNI?

| Due to the highly concentrated manner of teaching and the need to ascertain a uniform level of qualifications among graduates, transfer of credits gained through courses taken outside of MERNI is not possible. |
Is it possible to take other courses at the University of Bonn or third academic institutions while attending MERNI?

| Participants are free to enrol in other activities during their participation in the program. However, the highly concentrated delivery of teaching will usually require full-time commitment to the program. |
Does the LL.M. in European Regulation of Network Industries grant eligibility to take the US bar exam to practice law once I complete the program?
|
| The MERNI LL.M. degree does not grant eligibility for the bar exam or a doctor's degree in law. |
Will I need to complete an internship while participating in MERNI?

| An internship in a relevant industry sector can optionally be completed during the last three months of the program. Through the cooperation with its industry partners MERNI will assist participants in finding internship opportunities. |
What are the estimated costs accruing from participation in MERNI?
|
The total tuition fee for the academic year 2009/2010 amounts to EUR 10,000. Additionally, participants will have to incur living costs of around EUR 800 per month.

Does an application or enrolment fee have to be paid?
|
| Starting from February 2009 on, you are required to make a commitment payment of 500 EUR after you have received a letter of acceptance to the MERNI program. This payment will be taken off the 10.000 EUR tuition fee. If no payment has been made within 20 days the status of being accepted to the program will be revoked. Please note that a refund of the commitment payment is not possible. |
How many faculty members will hold courses?

The core faculty consists of 18 academics, each leading in his/her field, and eleven senior practitioners. For a complete list of the core faculty members, please consult the faculty section.
In order to grant participants a profound insight into both the research and practice of network regulation, additional experts from academia and relevant industry-sectors support the core faculty. |
Is the program available part-time? Weekends? Nights? And does MERNI offer the LL.M. through correspondence or long-distance learning?

| No. The program is only available full-time. Moreover, as a result of the teaching concept at the heart of the Master of European Regulation of Network Industries, which is based on interactive-participatory learning techniques, attendance is mandatory for all courses. |
